Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans

Understanding Medicare Supplement Insurance with a MediGap Advisors to Explain Your Options.

If you are over age 65 you do not qualify for a standard HSA plan, but you do have similar options through Medicare.  Medigap Insurance, also known as Medicare Supplement Insurance, is used to cover healthcare costs not available through Medicare.  When you turn 65, you have 6 months to enroll in a Medigap plan without having to qualify.  After that period, you must go through an underwriting process to get approved.

For anyone needing coverage after age 65, we recommend our sister company MediGap Advisors.  They do an excellent job helping our clients get into the right Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage plan, at the best price they can find, and their Personal Benefits Consultants make the process easy and hassle-free.

On the MediGap Advisors site, you'll find complete information on Medicare, Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, and of course Medicare Supplement plans.  Instant Medicare Supplement Rates are available from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana medicare supplement, and Golden Rule plans underwritten by UnitedHealthcare.  You can compare rates and apply online, or give them a call and they will take care of everything.

Medicare Supplement Insurance: How Can It Protect You From Medicare's Gaps?

Medicare Supplemental Health Insurance offers 10 types of health insurance. Each plan fills the holes in Medicare's coverage with different combinations of benefits. With so many choices, you can get the Medicare Supplemental Health Insurance that fits your situation.

Finding the Medicare Supplemental Insurance that's right for you takes more than just comparing premiums from different insurers. You also have to compare plan benefits to your medical expenses. Medicare Supplement Insurance helps with bills from doctors, hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.

This type of insurance is also called Medigap Plans so don't be confused. There are only 10 forms of Medigap Plans whether the plans are labeled Medicare supplements or Medigap Plans.

You may have also heard of Medicare Advantage Plans and these plans are different from Medicare supplements. Medicare Advantage Plans basically replace your Part A and B Medicare coverage with similar coverage from private insurers.

For the most complete Medigap coverage, look at Medigap Plan F. This plan helps with doctor fees, hospital bills and skilled nursing facility care when Medicare's coverage has ended. Medigap Plan F typically has high premiums, but if you have a lot of medical bills, it can save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

What if you're pretty healthy and have few medical expenses? Then look at the plans with less coverage to get lower premiums, such as Medicare Supplement Plan N. You'll still get coverage for most bills from Medicare Supplement Plan N, but you'll have to pay the Medicare Part B deductible and Part B excess charges.
