Prescription Discount Card Savings #1:
Your Free HSA Advantage Rx Card!

Major names in the retail pharmacy business are willing to provide significant discounts to groups that can increase the traffic in their stores.  One of the great benefits of consumer-driven health care is that companies are competing for our business, so smart consumers we can save a lot of money. When we are negotiating as a large group, we can often save even more.

One of the reasons medical prices are so high is because prices are hidden.  HSA for America believes there should be more price transparency in medical pricing, allowing the customer to find the best value by comparing prices among competitors.  The HSA Advantage Rx Card is a free benefit we offer in our partnership with Rx Care—an exceptional online service that’s compiled more than 1 million prescription prices for more than 6,000 drugs.

The HSA Advantage Rx Card is accepted at more than 60,000 participating pharmacies, including Walgreens, Rite Aid, Publix, CVS Pharmacy,
Winn-Dixie, BI-LO, King Soopers, Fred’s Pharmacy, Drug Fair, Target, Stop & Shop
and Kmart as well as thousands of independent pharmacies.
The difference is that you can check drug prices online and comparison shop before you make your purchase.

The HSA Advantage Rx Card is saving people up to 75 percent at more than 54,000 national and regional pharmacies!

By simply entering the name of your prescribed medication, Rx Care shows you the prices at both nearby pharmacies as well as national mail order companies.  The system shows you both generic and brand name pricing, and also alerts you to manufacturer copay cards, pharmacy discounts, and state discount programs.

Prescription Discount Card Savings #2:
Get Even More Savings with GoodRx

We also endorse the GoodRx discount card and online comparison service.  GoodRx cards are accepted at many pharmacies, including Walgreens, Kmart, Safeway, Target, Rite Aid and Kroger.  When used in concert with your HSA Advantage Rx Card, the GoodRx discount card gives you even more competitive savings information to compare.

It’s easy to register online to get your free GoodRx discount card mailed to you immediately.  GoodRx offers a medication look-up service that tells you where to find the best price on your medication.  This can come in handy even if you have prescription drug coverage through your health insurance plan.  GoodRx doesn’t sell prescription drugs; they just do the legwork of finding the best price on prescription medications for you.

Why would you pay a $10 or $20 copay if you could get the same prescription for $4? Some locations will give you your antibiotic prescription for free with a store discount card, so why would you shell out money for that same prescription elsewhere?

Double Savings Comparisons

Being an informed consumer is the best way to keep more of your hard-earned money.  Using free savings tools like the HSA Advantage Rx Card and the GoodRx price comparison service and discount cards can help make you a smarter shopper when deciding where to get your prescriptions filled.

We recommend you try both of these services when getting your prescriptions filled, as sometimes one card will get you the best price, while other times a different card will work better.

GoodRx

Prescription Discount Card Savings #4:
The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company

This last program is not an HSA for America benefit, but it is a program that we recommend.

Mark Cuban is well-known as the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and as a television personality from the popular TV show “Shark Tank.”

What’s less well known is that Cuban has long been frustrated with the stranglehold that Big Pharma and the insurance companies have long placed on the prescription drug industry.

So much so that he created a whole new drug company!

The aim of the Mark Cuban Cost-Plus Drug Company is to eliminate the layers of hidden charges and kickbacks that insurance companies, manufacturers, and distributors impose on drug company sales, and to finally bring transparency to the prescription drug market.

The Mark Cuban Cost-Plus Drug Company eliminates all the insurance companies and prescription management companies and negotiates prices directly with the manufactures.

They then add 15% to their costs from the manufacturer to stay in business, a $3.00 labor charge for the counting, bottling, and labeling your prescription, and shipping and handling.

That’s it.

The net result is up to 90% savings on more than 700 commonly prescribed medications.

Examples:

Just because you’re getting medications in the mail doesn’t mean you can’t consult with a pharmacist if you have questions about your prescription drugs.

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company customers have access to Accredited pharmacists available 24/7 through a contract with their pharmacy fulfillment partner, Truepill Pharmacy.

Prescription Discount Card Advantages & Disadvantages

There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these plans. For example, netWellRx and the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company don’t include free access to brand name or specialty drugs at this time.

In most cases, even if you take a brand name drug, there’s frequently an effective generic version or a therapeutic alternative. So these two programs can still benefit you.

You can use them alongside your free HSA Advantage discount Card, or your GoodRx discount card. Just use whatever option saves you the most money on your prescription drug costs.

If you have traditional insurance with a deductible, the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company works with managed care and prescription management companies. So you may be able to get credited towards your deductible.
